Cottages North Fife
In the gardens of most But an Ben cottages of the nineteenth century, pig houses will be found. These at Corbiehilly North fife are no longer used for the purpose due to restrictions on keeping pigs and the movement of them. In times when these cottages were for farm workers to keep a pig or two was an absolute necessity as employment was close to serfdom with very little money changing hands, instead an oats allowance and maybe milk, tatties or neeps. Hard times indeed.
