Golborne Greater Manchester
Golborne is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, in Greater Manchester, England. It lies 5.4 miles (8.7 km) south-southeast of Wigan, 6.1 miles (9.8 km) northeast of Warrington and 13.8 miles (22.2 km) to the west of the city of Manchester. It has a population of 23,119, yet the local market has closed, shops lie empty, what a shame when so much trade in local produce could happen. I sincerely wish that community awareness grows to love the gems of houses that they live in, preserve and focus on local.
Last week I called by this small town and was immediately drawn to and impressed by the quality of The turn of the 19th century houses, in particular the brickwork. Exquisite detailing of brickwork. Golborne a mining and textile town served by a mainline station clearly thrived at that time with high quality housing.

Really reflects the creativity and craftsmanship of our industrial past and sadly, is also a reflection of the effects, in my opinion, of our current governmental political/economic stance.
The character of the buildings is one thing I truly envy about the UK as compared to the US. We have so many cookie-cutters buildings now, and the ones with character in the downtowns are in dying areas of the cities.
Hello I've studied many pictorial seals of quality and borders. I was struggling to gain classification terminology and I stumbled upon your beautiful site with its explanations of the brickwork on the fronts of houses. I live in a 1930's terraced house in Liverpool they have scarab like friezes and sun pictorial like plaques but the idiots who had mine cladded it..........

I go mad looking at the neighbours and I desperately need to restore mine back to its originality. The border is that of a row of scarabs which is the Egyptian guardian hard shell symbolising good home plus the larger pictorial is a veneration to the old sun god out furling rose on my side opposite side of street in furling which is the suns direction east to west all surrounded by the pressed brick pyramids. I need to make moulds fire brick don't know what I'm doing please help!
