Tayviews North Fife March 2014

 8th of March a storm approaches off the West.

 16th occasional rays of sunlight beam down.

 23rd, the air quality is clear though in shadow giving good sight of the Perthshire hills slightly sprinkled with snow.

 24th A bright, clear sunny day, blue skies, snow covered hills in Perthshire, a deep breath feeling good to be alive.

Mugdrum Island mid Tay off  Newburgh North Fife, mostly reed beds but with some pasture. The Island once supported a working farm and house and later for many years cattle were taken across by boat from Newburgh, called the iron duke .... I think it sank.

North Fife January 23rd

January 23rd, a relatively mild winter in North Fife and yet snow threatens already lying on the hills of Perthshire as seen from over the River Tay North Fife. Forecast is for more tomorrow at low levels. Brrrr.

A light dusting of snow in the morning.

More white than green bleating sheep cry out for food.

Hungry sheep,  full of expectancy ..... barrrr barrrr

Pinkfoot geese alight on seeing me approach,

They are off to safer havens.

 

Winging their way up stream over the River Tay.

As the afternoon progressed snow lay at lower levels.

Snow Flisk North Fife 2013

Snow again here at Flisk North Fife, not much but enough to prevent travel, fortunately it rained later, a slushy drive to Newburgh and all was well.
 Meanwhile the ducks were left to forage, gleaning scraps of grass in the snow though I do feed them grain. They have a compulsion to bill their way into the ground creating muddy holes in which was once a level lawn. Giving free range returns us with wonderful rich tasting eggs, I prefer mine poached. An ever changing view of Newburgh and the River Tay.

Newburgh North Fife January 26th 2013

Newburgh North Fife yesterday. The snow is going to be replaced with lots of rain and sure enough today the Barony road was awash, like a shallow river, inches deep in places. Such are increasingly extreme weather conditions being experienced world wide. This is small beer, tiny, compared to many places. In Australia recently, fires everywhere, now floods, cyclones, In America, droughts, failing harvests, it goes on and on. It's the way it is.

Luthrie, I just love this stand of Scots pine on the horizon, falling snow depicts it differently. The roads are passable with care, oh what fun.

Newburgh North Fife Jan 19th 2013

Geese North Fife yesterday, on the move looking for forage, given the snowy weather I wish them well.

Compared to England we're getting off lightly with the snow, a few inches but then another shower comes across.

14 minuets later I get to the studio in the Steeple building and the sun is shining. Yippee.
