Korean Fir North Fife

Korean Fir (Abies koreana; Gusang namu in Korean) is a fir native to the higher mountains of South Korea, including Jeju-do island. It grows at altitudes of 1,000-1,900 m in temperate rain forest with high rainfall and cool, humid summers, heavy winter snowfalls and yet it grows well here in Brunton North Fife.

It has taken me a lifetime to realise that pine/fir cones are dead flowers. The actual flowers are quite spectacular as in this example.
