Warstone Lane Cemetery

When in Birmingham last week I visited Warstone Lane Cemetery in the Jewellery Quarter. I have no known relatives there but my Sister is involved in a restoration project of this and adjacent Keyhill Cemetery.
As a craftsman I was really taken by the exquisite stone carving on some of the headstones, skilfully drawn and cut. Such a pity that over time the soft sandstone has yielded to the previous corrosive atmosphere of an industrial city. Even now one can walk the streets of the quarter and get a whiff of hydrochloric acid. The cemeterty has an open day, 2nd Saturday in September, interested and volunteers should contact.

Headstone to John Rea.

Headstone to John Price Cook.

Within this space recently an offering of meat, spirits and sweeties had been made. ? Why, I don't know. Perhaps these people might know.

Clearly a ceremony has taken place, click to enlarge and study the drawings.

A discrete spot in Warstone Lane Cemetery where one or more partake.

Stop the Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive

Stop the Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive.
The Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive (THMPD) is presented as a service to European citizens and as simple to apply. However, close examination of its methods in practice demonstrates that the reality will be an egregious abridgement of the rights of individuals to obtain and use the health treatments they choose.

While it benefits citizens for governmental agencies to advise on efficacy and safety of products that have been commonly and freely used by utilising a particular method of inquiry, that information may not address the needs of individuals and presumes that there is only one system for obtaining accurate and beneficial information. That is equivalent to allowing only one religion as the accepted source of truth.

Phyto Products Ltd, produce a wide range of high quality herbal products. The imposition of unreasonable constraints on the sale and availability of traditional beneficial herbal remedies is an outrage. I called on Phyto last week, a company I've purchased from for many years to put a face on Melissa who has the most nonchalant, relaxed and wonderful telephone voice one can enjoy.

M6 Motorway North Bound

Heading home, this car draws alongside, hovering, is it a stalker? is it the Law? No, it's a friend on the same patch of road, heading home like myself. There we were driving, consuming oil along with a million or so other motorists in the UK, that's millions of Litres every single day. Mind boggling, We are all part of it. Just imagine the enormous quantities consumed non stop. It's no wonder wars are fought over it. It's going to run out anyway.

290 miles to go.

M6 Motorway going North.

This is how it is. Notice the traffic in the opposite direction, stop start, and any part of like that until you get up North. What a relief.

Whinney Fell Cumbria

On my way back from the Midlands I called in at my friends and stayed awhile, Whinney Fell on the edge of The North West Pennines. A beautiful place with amazing vistas, on the surrounding land Grouse flourish and chatter, pheasants and chaffinch call. At 1000 Ft it's a wee bit cooler but the lack of noise and light pollution is enriching and peaceful.

Approach to the house on the Fell. OK the now, but Winter?

At 1000 Feet, Whinney Fell House.

Five barred gate at Whinney Fell.

Lakeland Mountains on the horizon to the west of Whinney Fell.

Ross & McDonald Wedding Newburgh North Fife

Ross & McDonald Wedding Newburgh North Fife, the ceremony was conducted by The Rev Lynn Brady in Abdie Parish Church.
The name of this parish, Abdie or Ebtie, is supposed to be the Gaelic word abtaob signifying waterside. The ancient name of the parish was Lindores, which is still the name of the principal village in it, a place of great antiquity. The church of Abdie was always reckoned to have belonged to the abbey of Lindores. In 1633, the whole of the parish of Newburgh was disjoined from Abdie. The old church, which is now in ruins, may be traced to the beginning of the fifteenth century. There are also the ruins of old Lindores castle. The present church was built in 1827.

Nearly getting to the church on time.

Clip clop arrival.

Singing Lord of the Dance.

Nearly done and dusted.

Tayview 27th March Newburgh North Fife

Well, what a difference a few degrees warmer makes. Inside/outside tasks became a relative pleasure, I even had time to stop and take in the views between long awaited household tasks.

Tayview from Banklands, Newburgh North Fife today 27th March 2010.

Eye burning reflection off the River Tay.

# Wind farm in Perthshire about 10 miles West from Newburgh.

Clear air today 20% humidity, the Perthshire peaks are more evident.

Cresting the hill at Black Earnside this smoke came apparent, a hot air balloon approaching from the top right of the picture, maybe wondering too.

A closer look and the fact the smoke was white confirmed it must be vegetation and not a house.

Krill Oil

Krill Oil, in my search for a diet supplement to enhance my flagging mental falculties I purchased some online from America. Already I am experiencing gognitive benefits. If you live anywhere outside USA then buy from a more local supplier. I suffered the imposition of added postal charges in America plus the UK and import duties which added another 30% on the purchase price, none of which were expected, so I wont be going there again. The only way to know how this product benefits is to taste it and see. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I have no financial gain if you click on the link below but I am happy if others gain benefit and a brighter life.

Premium Omega 3 and Antioxidant
Krill oil has received a great deal of attention recently and is the supplement that everyone is talking about.
Formally known as Euphausia superba, krill oil is a pure and natural source of omega 3 which also provides the antioxidant astaxanthin. Antioxidants work within the body to neutralise free-radicals and thus it is the presence of astaxanthin that sets krill oil apart from traditional fish oils. Krill oil also provides high levels of substances collectively known as phospholipids; a fundamental component of human cell membranes.
Healthspan's Krill Oil is sourced exclusively from sustainable fisheries in the Antarctic through our partners Aker BioMarine™ who work with World Wildlife Foundation Norway to ensure sustainable krill harvesting.

Memory-Boosting Effect of Bacopa Monnieri: A Clinical Study

Increasingly I experience those senior moments where memory recall is not what it used to be. In researching possible antidotes I came across this publication. Bacopa Monnieri can be grown at home and can surely benefit ones mental health.

Memory-Boosting Effect of Bacopa Monnieri: A Clinical Study.

At present, many classical and patent formulations, which contain herbal and mineral drugs, are available as memory boosters. However, Aindri (Bacopa monnieri) has been in use since the prehistoric times as a nerve tonic for rejuvenating mental health and enhancing memory. This wonder drug has been mentioned by ancient sages, medical men in almost all social, medical and religious treatises of the world. Ayurveda has more than one reference of this plant for the enhancement of memory and mental agility of mankind. The famous Ayurvedic text Charak Samhita refers to this plant as Medhya Rasayan and for curing mental retardation leading to psychosis. Similarly, Sushruta has also described this drug as Medhya Rasayan. In the texts of later period like Astanga Sangraha and Hridaya,Bhavprakash and Yogratnakara, this drug has been mentioned in a similar way. Therefore, it is clear that Aindri is a well-established memory booster. Keeping in view the above property of this wonder plant, this book has been written on the basis of a clinical study planned to advocate and standardize an effective Ayurvedic formulation as a memory booster.
