Bullrushes North Fife

Bullrushes as here in North Fife, we all know what they look like and that may be a good thing. The Media is at present heralding a probable recession, a collapse of systems, work, food, availability and cost. Well if push comes to shove we can always find something to eat. Yes it can be Bull-rush. The rhizome, inner pith and heads can be nutritionally used. For information on this and other alternative food sources the book below may come in handy. Enjoy.

Wheat Harvest Logie North Fife

Wheat Harvest Logie North Fife. It looks like a brand new harvester to me. What a comfortable ride it is these days for combine harvester drivers on the north facing Fife fields. I think it even has a jacuzzi at the back. They are still at it as I post and below is a portent for tomorrow.

The adage, Red Sky at Night is ........ Delight as recorded a few moments ago.

Wheat Harvest Parkhill Farm.

Ducks with ducklings out for a forage, a risky business as two ducklings were taken by a Sparrow Hawk a few days ago. In the background you might just hear the urgent groans of the combine harvesters working away in the surrounding fields here in North Fife.

Wheat Harvest Parkhill Farm Newburgh North fife. After so many days of rain it's surprises me how much dust is being thrown up from the chopped chaf and to be honest I've never seen such a wide reel and cutting table in Britain.

North Fife The Earth

Construction in Kolkata, formerly Calcutta India. I like this photo of the meeting of home grown (bamboo scaffolding)and high rise concrete construction, a wee bit of a wobble in the traditional materials. Such use would not be allowed here but needs must. It's good to see others benefiting from an improvement in civic and living conditions and indeed India like so many so called third world countries are coming on a pace. Due to 1st world countries earlier and present rapacious use of world resource and the example we portray it's little wonder that others will aspire to equal standards. Sadly it's not sustainable and we as a species, so successful, the world is being over exploited of mineral, vegetation, fishes, you name it. It has been shown that another three worlds are needed for all mankind to achieve the same standard of material life as say America. Something has to give. We are out of balance and deep within we all know. What a legacy we are growing for those who follow. Anyway, below is where we all live together, me in north fife and you where you are, not separate in anyway at all.

The Earth. Do you recognise it? It's a changing.

Wheat Field North Fife

Spring sown wheat, not yet quite ripe for harvest, a wet year that may yet get sunny and bright, maybe just in time.

Wheat field here at Flisk North Fife, I quite like the energy in the thrusting ears. Might even put to paper a drawing of the quality.

Barley Field North Fife

Barley sown this spring, the heads are not yet fully mature but close.

Probably a few weeks yet before harvest, a month later than normal but yet it could be a good yield.
